Gas Mileage
Other than the issue of safety, there are many other reason not to speed. One that we all should be concerned about, especially with today's gas prices, is gas mileage. Your gas mileage rapidly decreases when you travel at speeds above 55 mph. While that may be somewhat slow for interstate driving, 65 mph will cost you more money to get where you need to be without gaining much time. I've found that driving around 60 is a good compromise between saving on gas and still getting to where I'm going in a reasonable amount of time.
One day on my way home from work a commentary came on the radio. As I listened to the commentator talk about her thoughts, many of which being the same reasons why I wanted to put this site together, I knew it would a great complement to what I had to say.
The link below will bring you to Vermont Public Radio's website where you'll find a text version of the commentary. There is also an audio version you can listen to. |
